Razzle Dazzle

A group of parents enjoyed watching the children’s Razzle Dazzle sessions so much they decided to form their own ‘Dazzle’ group. They rehearse in school after dropping their children into class and will be performing their Wake Up, Shake Up routine in front of the children on 11th February at 9 am.We are really enjoying the rehearsals and getting a little fitter in the process. These Razzle Dazzle sessions give us a positive start to our day. Come along and join in, everyone is welcome.

Below are some facts and figures about attendance at Four Dwellings Primary Academy.Have a look at the tips page as you may find some of the ideas useful. Help us to help your child realise their full potential by ensuring your child is in school everyday and on time.

Your support as parents/carers is invaluable in helping us to improve whole school attendance.

Story Book Bags

To help a child achieve their full potential we have to be mindful that children learn in many different ways. We need to ensure we have the resources to  enable us to teach children meeting their varying learning styles. This week in a parent workshop, we started creating story book bags to support Talk for Writing and maths in Nursery. The Three Billy Goats Gruff was this week’s topic. In each bag there will be a variety of resources including story sequencing, puppets and mats for creating play doh story characters. There will also be activities to help children with size ordering and addition. A big thank you to all who assisted with the creating of this week’s story book bag. More to follow!!

What is quilling?

Quilling is a type of ornamental craftwork involving the shaping of paper, fabric or glass into delicate pleats or folds.

During this week’s workshops we have been practising the skills needed to quill with paper. We have thought about designs and begun to put together some of our ideas over a cup of tea and a chat.

Parent’s Christmas Workshops

During December parents came into school to help us prepare for the Christmas Fayre. We had a great time getting to know each other and were able to create some fantastic Christmas items in the process.
The sock snowman workshop was by far the most popular one, attended by 20+ parents. The snowmen flew off the shelves at the Christmas Fayre, we took additional orders to keep everyone happy! The gift bags and cards were also very popular and sales of these contributed towards the £125 raised by the parent/pastoral stall. (We will be converting the snowman workshop to an Easter chick one soon. Watch this space!)

The pastoral team would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to the workshops and joined in the fun.

We have had a go at ‘quilling’ today and have a ‘Parent Tool Kit’ workshop arranged for Thursday 14th January looking at morning and bedtime routines. Come along and join us.  Maybe you have ideas or skills you would like to share with us. We look forward to seeing you.

Keep an eye on the school diary and newsletters for information on future workshops.
