Couch to 5k

We are running this programme for parents and friends led by Taz from Run Birmingham. It is a 9 week programme called ‘Couch to 5K’ where we hope to be able to combat high levels of inactivity.
Taz is coming into school on Tuesday’s and Friday’s to train with parents. Come along and join in the fun. Let’s get fit together.

Run Birmingham.

In January we are running a programme for parents and friends led by Taz from Run Birmingham. It is a 9 week programme called ‘Couch to 5K’ where we hope to be able to combat high levels of inactivity. We have our own coach, Taz, who will support us with basic running advice including routines for warming up, stretching and cooling down. We will each have a copy of the programme which includes information that allows us to access weekly podcasts to support us.

We are using the weeks leading up to Christmas as signing up and taster sessions. Come along and join us on Tuesday mornings and get fit in 2017.

Running is free and you can do it anywhere. It has a huge impact on your physical and mental health. The Couch to 5K programme starts gently and builds up each week, finishing off with a 5K run. (The 5k run is optional.)

Christmas Crafts.

With Christmas just around the corner we have all been feeling a little festive and a little creative. We have decorated a few jars of Mrs Mutter’s home made strawberry jam and apple and orange marmalade and made some decorations to sell at the Christmas Fayre. We have been weighing out and bagging some of the magical reindeer food ready for Santa’s reindeer and have made some 3D snowflakes.

Do you remember this post on our newsletter recently?

Parents pulled together donating items to create two lovely hampers, a gorgeous teddy, a sweet hamper, some activity sets and cakes for the coffee morning cake sale. We raised more than enough money to pay the deposit for the mobility scooter and so donated the rest to Children In Need.  A huge thank you to everyone for their hard work and support.

Brave the Shave.

Kim Wright supported our coffee morning to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Charity by donating a delicious homemade chocolate concrete. She joined us for coffee and bought cakes to take home for her family. However, this was just the beginning. Kim had decided to “Brave the Shave.”

On Friday 14th October Kim went to ‘Mr Stopps’ with a full head of hair. She sat herself in the hairdressers chair and Donna took a pair of hair trimmers and set to work giving Kim a number 3 all over. Drastic!

Kim raised over £625 for Macmillan Nurses. Well done Kim.
